A Scottish Forest Walk with the Lensbaby Sweet 80

A few weeks before Christmas those lovely people at Lensbaby sent me the Sweet 80 to try. Unfortunately life, Christmas, and the British winter weather have all got in the way and conspired to make sure I’ve had little opportunity to use it! I certainly haven’t used it enough to be able to give any real feedback on it but I’m happy to share my first, but rather limited, impressions.

After using the Velvet lenses for so long I found focus using the composer more of challenge. I also found that sometimes the blur from the Sweet 80 can be a little overwhelming so there’s certainly more thought needs to go into using this optic. It definitely made me slower and more considered in my approach and that’s no bad thing! I was really excited to find the pull out macro thingy (I’m sure there’s a more technical name but I’ve no idea what it is!) and found I’ve used it a lot, almost all the time in fact.

I was lucky enough to spend a lot of December in Scotland and took the Sweet 80 for a wander around my favourite forest….

Can anyone else see a tree trunk with a face or is that just me?
