Lensbaby Blog Circle – A Wander Along Manchester’s Canals

It’s very rare that I do any urban photography, partly because I’m happiest in the countryside or by the sea but I’m also a little uncomfortable wandering a city centre alone with a large and conspicuous camera.

So when I spotted that the lovely Katya from Easy Insta Manchester was organising an Instacake meetup I thought it would be a great opportunity to take some city centre photos in the comfort of a group, and what a lovely group it turned out to be.

In case you are wondering, an Instacake meetup is exactly what it sounds like, an opportunity to meet up with Instagram users and eat cake (although in my case the cake was actually a croissant), drink coffee, talk about Instagram, creativity and business and then have a wander to take some pictures. A perfect way to spend a morning!

After our cake, coffee and chat we headed long the canal for a spot of photography and were very lucky with the light and the weather…

All of the images are taken with the Edge 50, I love this optic but don’t use it enough!

Most have textures added from my new Glorious Greys collection.

Next up in the blog circle is Birgit one of newest members, please click here to head over and pay her a visit and then follow the links around the circle.

You had a wonderful outing with a great group, Janet. I love your photos. The textures give a new dimension to the images, and I love how you found the best lit part of the town for your photos.

Another fabulous set of Edge pictures in this circle – I really have to give it another try.
The light is really amazing – I can see that you really liked the bridge – I would have as well!
My favourite picture is the first with this sliver of light on the boat – simply wonderful!

I really enjoy the Edge 50 but I don’t use it anywhere near enough. You are right about that bridge, although really it was the light, it was just magical!!

The circle shows that every lensbaby ist a good lensbaby. I really love your pictures from Manchester and I also share your feeling of uncomfortable wandering a city center, especially in big cities, with the conspicious camera.

Most of all I like the first photo. Love the light and the texture of it. It’s really great!

    Herzliche Grüße

Thanks for your kind words & I completely agree Birgit, every Lensbaby is wonderful in it’s own way. Glad I’m not alone with the discomfort in a city.

These are gorgeous! Such wonderful light and tones in them. I used to live in the city centre, so these bring back memories too. Beautifully done!
