Last Leaves of Autumn ~ Serenity Project November 2018

Earlier this month I received a message on Facebook asking if I would like to be part of the Serenity Project Blog Circle. I do love a blog circle so I off I popped to have a look through some of the posts in the circle and see what it was all about. And what a treat it was. I discovered a group of talented female photographers sharing some beautiful images that all have a sense of serenity. And of course that’s right up my street!

For my first Serenity Project post I’m sharing some images of an acer in my back garden that turns the most glorious deep red just before it loses it’s leaves. I’d been watching the colours grow deeper and richer and then one overcast morning as I admired them I also realised they would be perfect for the Serenity Project…

I grabbed my camera and my Lensbaby Velvet 85 and took a few shots wide open to give a lovely softness and glow.

Two days later all the leaves had dropped!

Next up in the circle is Eileen Critchley with some frosty mornings, please head over and take a look….

Absolutely beautiful . You really have to move up to Scotland and teach me all about Lensababys. Either that or I need to relocate, lol Love this share and so glad it came on board the Serenity Circle Janet. You are all so talented and make me want to push myself harder.

Janet, when I saw that you had joined the Serenity Circle, my immediate thought was could it be the Lensbaby Janet. Of course it is and you’ve shown why you are so sterling at this. Glad you were able to photograph the leaves before they fell. By the way, do you have the Burnside? I was part of the Traveling project and still haven’t purchased one as I think my Velvet may be all I need.

Oh Joan that’s so funny that you think of me as “Lensbaby Janet”, thanks for your kind words.
I do have the Burnside, if you scroll back through the blog you’ll find my posts from when I was trying it out. I think it’s very different to the Velvets so definitely a place for both, I’m not a natural wide shooter so I do lean more towards the Velvet 85 but I must make myself take the Burnside out more, I love the look of it!

Thanks so much Emily, I don’t always like the Velvets wide open and glowing but now and again I come across the perfect subject! Thanks fr the welcome, I’m really happy to be part of the circle!

Welcome!! Happy to see your post. That tree must look lovely when in full colour. I love that you used the Velvet, it suits the theme and the leaves perfectly.

Thanks so much Lori! It is particularly beautiful just before it’s ready to lose it’s leaves, it’s only small tough, maybe about 2ft high at the most!

You never know. How cool would that be?

  • Iris Reply

Oh, these leaves are just gorgeous, and the color is amazing. I don’t have the Velvet 85, but Velvet 56, and sometimes I like to use it wide open. The glow is just gorgeous.
Thank you so much for sharing your images, and welcome to the serenity blog circle. I am looking forward to see more from you.
