In Fog and Snow ~ Serenity Project February

What could possibly be more serene than a walk in snow and fog, each brings their own unique silence, put them together and you feel like you could be all alone in the world….

I woke up one morning at the end of January to a covering of snow, I’m usually keen to head out on foot when it snows but this particular morning I felt strangely disinterested. And then around lunchtime I spotted the first hints of a mist, before long the fog had rolled in and I couldn’t wait to head out.

I choose to take just the Lensbaby Sol45, I knew the trees were going to loom out of the fog and the wide aperture and the blur of the Sol were perfect to capture the quietness of the day.

I love the painterly feel of all of these! Maybe I need to look into that Sol?!? Beautiful images this month!

    • Janet Broughton

Thanks so much Emily! The Sol is a lovely lens but then all the Lensbabies are!!

Thank you Eileen, I love that we can be so far apart and shoot such similar images!

  • Lori McLellan

Beautiful winter images! Those trees look so lovely in the fog.

    • Janet Broughton

Thanks Lori! I do love how the fog transforms the landscape!

  • Kristen Ryan

Wow, these are so dreamy and full of atmosphere, Janet! What a stunning collection they make together too!

    • Janet Broughton

Thanks so much Kristen, I always think thats one of the drawbacks of social media that we don’t really view images as collections any more. Some work much better as part of a set than alone and we miss out on that.

Beautiful Janet. Can really see the quietness captured here. Can imagine the only gentle sound being your footsteps in the snow. So very peaceful and serene.

    • Janet Broughton

Thanks Wendy, I love fog and the way it transforms a landscape!

You inspire me to get out my Sol 45, it’s been off my camera for a while. These are such great atmospheric photos, and together they do make a wonderful set. They could be a series of greeting cards.

    • Janet Broughton

That’s very kind Nancy, thank you. I’m the same with my Sol, hadn’t used it for a while and then when I got it out I remembered how much I loved it!

  • Nadeen

The Lensbaby added such a ethereal feel to these snow/tree images. Very serene. Beautiful work!

    • Janet Broughton

      Thanks so much Nadeen!

  • Iris

These images are indeed amazing. I wish we would have fog more often in Arizona. Thank you for sharing, Janet.

    • Janet Broughton

Thank you Iris. I do love foggy weather, we don’t get too often but it’s great when we do!

  • Joan

Janet, I just have to be your fan girl. These are gorgeous. You live in a beautiful area that allows you to express yourself photographically. I mentioned that I just unboxed my Sol last week. Can’t wait to get more proficient in it

    • Janet Broughton

That’s so very kind Joan, thank you. I love your first Sol image and can’t wait to see what else you do with it!
