Yesterday the weather was horrible and the forecast even worse, Salford Quays was the place of choice because you don’t need to venture outdoors. The end of the world weather didn’t arrive so we got to wander a little and I took just a couple of pictures on my iphone (with my still favourite image editor VSCOcam) and the images got me thinking a little…

It struck me that when I’m just wandering with a camera and photographing the things the catch my eye I’m particularly drawn to emptiness in an image. I’m sure that must say something about me as a person although I’ve no idea what !

Funnily enough I’m the complete opposite when I’m shooting portraits, I’m very much a frame filler when a person is the main focus of the image. I’d love to have a deep and meaning explanation for these two distinctly different styles but unfortunately its just an observation!
