I was rather pleased with myself this week, I managed to combine two photography projects into one image!
If you’ve come across my Past Their Best project already you will know that I’m always on the look out for reduced food for my project. This week they had some lovely looking figs tucked away on the sorry looking trolley in the corner and I couldn’t help feeling that even though they were supposedly not desirable any more they were twice as perfect for me!
It’s been a busy week and I’ve been struggling a little for time so these were a day out of date when I photographed them. I decided to keep the images very simple with just a slate background for most of them and no added props, sometimes simple can work really well. I struggled to decide which image to use for 52 Weeks but in the end I choose the one above for its quiet simplicity.
Past Their Best is a project to photograph food that is past its sell by date, but generally still good enough to eat, you can read more about it and view the rest of the series by selecting the category.
If you enjoy food photography and want to improve your skills you will be pleased to know that I will be launching an online food photography course in the next couple of months. If you’d like to be kept updated just click here & fill in your email.
